Rwanda seeks to turn tourism interest into business opportunities at WTM London

Speaking to IGIHE, Cédric Tuyisenge, Acting Head of Tourism Marketing at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), said the country’s participation in the annual tourism fair aims to strengthen its presence in global markets and generate business opportunities.

“Over the past few years, Rwanda has attended WTM London with the aim of strengthening its presence in the global tourism market and turning international interest into business opportunities,” he said.

He said Rwanda was showcasing its diverse tourism offering, from mountain gorilla experiences and wildlife safaris to cultural attractions and hospitality.

“Our message at WTM London was simple: Rwanda offers much more than a visit; it offers a memorable experience,” Tuyisenge said.

He added that the country was prioritising connections with international travel buyers, strengthening existing relationships and developing partnerships with tour operators.

Beyond raising visibility, RDB wants the engagement to encourage travellers to explore more of Rwanda and extend their stays.

“We expect this engagement to translate into more bookings, stronger market access and increased tourism revenue,” he said.

Tuyisenge said the broader objective was to ensure tourism growth benefits local businesses, creates jobs and contributes to conservation.
