Oumar, a businessman from Mali, has witnessed firsthand how China‑Africa trade evolves: from conventional hardware and small commodities to fast‑rising new energy vehicles. Having rooted himself in Yiwu for 16 years, he looks forward to broader, win‑win possibilities for China‑Africa cooperation.
Oumar comes from Mali. He came to Yiwu to pursue his studies in 2009. He spent two years learning Chinese, followed by three years studying International Economy and Trade, and graduated in 2015.
After graduation, he stayed in Yiwu and co-founded Yiwu AICE Trading Co., Ltd. with his elder brother. Their business focuses on exporting hardware and metal products.
Every year, more than 200 containers are shipped from Yiwu to various African countries. He is mainly in charge of finance, while also following up on orders and daily operations. He has built a solid reputation among suppliers thanks to his credibility and long-term partnerships.
In recent years, he has ventured into automobile sales, optimistic about the prospects of new energy vehicles in Africa.
Meanwhile, he hopes to bring African agricultural products to China. Having lived in Yiwu for 16 years, he and his family have settled down there. He says Yiwu has become his “second home”.
