Rayon Sports sign Malian star Issa Djiguiba

The Rwandan club announced the acquisition on Friday night, July 3, 2026, through its official social media channels, marking another addition to its squad ahead of the new season.

Djiguiba, who previously featured for AS Real Bamako, is known for his versatility in midfield. He can operate as an advanced playmaker behind the strikers and is also capable of playing on either flank.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an outstanding 2025/26 season, earning the title of best player in Mali’s premier division. He joined Rayon Sports after the expiry of his contract with his former club. Reports indicate that he signed for the Rwandan side for a fee of around $25,000 (approximately 36.6 million Rwandan francs).

Before his move, Djiguiba also played for US Bougouba in Mali and is a member of the Mali national team.

At Rayon Sports, he joins a group of newly signed foreign players, including Ibrahim Djingarey from Niger, Antonio Atisso Kodjo from Benin, Charles Tchouplaou from Chad, and Matumona Wakonda Kanda from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The squad also features Rwandan players such as Ndayishimiye Didier, Nshuti Didier, Nisingizwe Christian, Nkundimana Fabio, Nizeyimana Mubarak, and Muhoza Daniel.

Several players have already reported to the club’s pre-season training camp in Gicumbi District as Rayon Sports intensifies preparations for upcoming competitions, including the CECAFA Kagame Cup, the CAF Confederation Cup, and domestic tournaments.
