Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has denied reports of entering DRC to attack FDLR at the end of last week.
Yesterday, Radio Okapi based in DRC aired that the official in charge of information in zone 34 occupied by FARDC soldiers, Capt. Guillaue Ndjike Kaiko said that on April 16th ,2016 Rwandan soldiers captured Chegera region 30 kilometers away from Northern part of Goma.
Capt. Guillaue Ndjike Kaiko said that residents of the region attested that Rwandan soldiers were hunting FDLR in Groupe Scolaire Buhumba.
In an interview with the deputy spokesperson of RDF, Lt.Col.Rene Ngendahimana told IGIHE that the information about entering DRC is false.
“Such news is false .We never went to DRC. If we went there you would have known since everyone can see people crossing the border,” he said.
Talking about measures to maintain security after raids of FDLR, Lt Col Ngendahimana said “We always have policies to guarantee sustainable security when we realize such informal raids of FDLR.”
The recent statement released by MINADEF after the raid at Bugeshi police station in Rubavu district on Saturday indicated that attackers are suspected to be FDLR militia.
Lt Col Ngendahimana said that the investigation is ongoing to establish whether the attack was carried by FDLR.
As usual the Extended Joint Verification Mechanism (EJVM), a delegation of soldiers in charge of monitoring the border of Rwanda and Congo is informed to carry out investigations when there is a clash at the border of the two countries.
Lt Col Ngendahimana said that DRC is spreading rumors since they would have requested Extended Joint Verification Mechanism or Monusco to investigate.
“When we realize a problem we call Extended Joint Verification Mechanism for investigation. Why can’t they proceed through the same procedure other than spnning rumors in the media,” he said.
FDLR militia is used to raid threatening security in some parts of Northern and Western provinces.
Last month, one soldier wearing FARDC uniform was shot dead at the land of Rwanda in a raid suspected to have been carried by FDLR.
At the end of last week other suspected FDLR fighters carried raids at Bugeshi police station in Rubavu district where Rwandan soldiers repelled them back.
