The Capital Market Authority (CMA) has relocated its offices from the Ecobank headquaters building in Kigali’s Central Business District to the second tower of the RSSB headquarters building located in Nyarugenge District of the City of Kigali. The new location in Kigali will accommodate the growth of the authority to be able to serve the public more conveniently.
The key role of the capital market is to access long term capital to the economy and enforcement by providing a legal framework for investor protection through the development of an orderly, fair and transparent market environment.
The other key market development initiatives targeted by the CMA include: the overseeing implementation of the Information and Communication Technology capacity of the market; promotion of saving culture among citizens, manpower capacity building; undertake research; target SMEs and mobilizing diaspora remittances.
The Capital Market Authority is responsible for: implementing Government policy on capital markets; regulating and supervising all capital market activities with a view to maintaining a proper code of conduct and acceptable practices on the capital market.
CMA operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning. CMA Rwanda is an active member of The East African Securities Regulatory Authorities (EASRA) and an associate member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
