Over 200 authorities transferred to PM Office for penalty

{ {{The Prosecution General of the Republic of Rwanda declares that the list of 212 authorities was sent to the office of the Prime Minister to be penalized following the Auditor General’s report claiming their culpability of fund misappropriation crimes.}} }

The prosecution realized that such crimes are not worth to be handed in courts which ushered the decision of transferring offenders to the office of the Prime Minister.

The Prosecutor General of the Republic, Richard Muhumuza has unveiled the case today on 27th October, 2015 during the meeting of prosecutors.

Muhumuza said that the prosecution continues to counteract offenders to the extent that Rwf 47 million have been recovered while other cases are under investigation.

He said that the prosecution does all possibilities to investigate following the General Auditor’s report.

Making indictments on subjects of fund misappropriation to be trialed as well as transferring simple mistakes have been done .He said focusing on the case of 212 authorities sent to the office of the Prime Minister last year.

According to him simple offenders are requested to pay the fine. Accordingly the General Auditor office allows them possibilities to be trialed or pay fine as the law promulgates.

Statistics from general auditor of courts proves that between 2014 and 2015, the prosecution has made many reforms where prevailed jurisdictions raised from 76 to 92.9%.

Muhumuza attributed the success to training facilities offered to prosecutors to improve their performance.

The General Prosecutor also noted that there is a plan to stand against corrupted prosecutors.

He recalled that last year, embezzled prosecutors were defeated in trial, punished and relieved of their duties.

“Corruption is intolerable habit in prosecution .We have been engaged in punishing the subject as soon as possible in a bid to eradicate this culture.” Explained Muhumuriza.

The Auditor of Courts proves that prosecution at lower instance receives 345 annual allegations while prosecution at higher instance receives only five cases over the gravity of international cases.
