Hundreds of Rwandans on Wednesday participated in a demonstration calling for the release of Rwanda’s intelligence chief Arrested in UK.
Lt. Gen. Karenzi Karake was arrested at Heathrow Airport in UK on Saturday as he was preparing to return to Rwanda after participating in a meeting.
They gathered outside the office of British High commissioner to Rwanda with placards carrying messages requesting his release.
Meanwhile Louise Mushikiwabo, Rwanda’s foreign minister, called the arrest “an outrage” adding: “Western solidarity in demeaning Africans is unacceptable”.
Andrew Mitchell, former international development secretary, said he believed the arrest was a “reprehensible abuse” of the law
