Kagame was speaking in an interview with American Author, Ian Bremmer in Germany on the sidelines of last month’s Munich Security Conference.
The interview took place after Kagame had met US President Donald Trump in the sidelines of World Economic Forum that took place in Davos, Switzerland in January.
Asked whether he asked Trump about his comment about Shithole remarks he made referring to African countries and some Asian countries, Kagame replied saying that he did it in a ‘civil way’.
“In a way that is more civil than people would have expected. We naturally had to talk about that, but also the background that it is as if no one is sure what was even said, because people including himself said no; it was either misrepresented or actually they didn’t hear it, others heard it. I didn’t find it correct that I would dwell on such. And as you said, Trump being President of the United States I’m more interested in how Africa and the United States can work together,” he said.
Asked whether he came away with anything specific, he said that after the discussions, Trump wrote a letter to the African Union expressing how he wants to work with Africa and African leaders.
“And even he mentioned my meeting with him in Davos, which message for me was important enough that he was reacting out and saying, I mean to work well with Africa and serious about it. I thought for me that is the most important thing,” he added.
{{Recent transitions in Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and South Africa
}}
Last year, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe resigned from his office and the World was surprised with peaceful transition.

Stressing on the case of Ethiopia that is economically stable since Desalegn took office six years ago, Kagame said that what matters is aspirations of people.
“This connectedness really informs people and drives people to do things we want to do and raises the level of aspiration and there is a thing that happens in one way or another that correction is made so that the demands and aspirations of these people are met,” he said.
He said that Ethiopia remains a good performer in terms of development that have taken place and in the growth of the economy.
He said that it’s okay if Desalegn resignation was for opening up more integration for different actors acting in different interests for the people of Ethiopia.

Among problems that hamper education in Rwanda include school dropouts, class repetition and unwanted pregnancies among others.
The Organisation coordinator, Father Innocent Gatete said that the government has put in place all necessities for children to get access to education, but noted that awareness among school head teachers is needed to make quality education possible.
“Attending schools could result into nothing if there is no quality of education. That is why we as professionals have decided to combine efforts to build foundations of quality education for our children so that they will be capable to tackle problems that the World faces,” he said.
He said that HoSO will help head teachers in terms of training, advice and any other support that could help develop education in their schools.
The State Minister in charge of Primary and Secondary Education in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Isaac Munyakazi said that for education programmes to succeed there is a need for good school managers.
“Some of education key partners are school head teachers. Participants at the Mardi Gras Party were hosted in Marriott’s Soko Restaurant that is usually renowned for serving delectable cuisines like Belgian, Indian, Turkish, African and more.
Mardi Gras is the most popular carnival celebrated in Brazil and other Latin America countries.
From 6pm to 11pm, guests enjoyed dishes commonly known in Brazil and cocktails that are mainly served in Caribbean countries. Congenially hot Latin entertainment spiced up the banquets as Marriott staff interacted with the visitors, wishing one another to enjoy the Brazilian delicacies.
Kigali Marriott’s Restaurant Lounge Manager, Kunal Amit, told IGIHE that Marriott is ever striving to serve the best and diverse cuisines to provide guests with a range of choices to break routine foods and keep the appetites high.
“This country is going to boom. So far I have seen many tourists coming in; so if you give them only the African food, they will definitely get enough of it and miss their favourite food from other parts of the world. The African and Brazilian food mixed together makes something new and this is something people like,” he said.
Amit went on saying “This is a kind of union – unity and diversity. You can get fed up with having the same food or same buffet. Sometimes you need to celebrate something so people get excited to come here to see something different. That’s why we are celebrating tonight.”
He said Brazilian food is like a mixture of African and European cuisines, meaning that it has some taste of African and European cuisines.
Kigali Marriott’s Executive Sous Chef Awanish Joshi said Mardi Gras Party showcased Brazilian barbecue, a good meat selection and other popular dishes that are served in Brazil.
Kagame was speaking yesterday in Gabiro while closing the 15th National Leaders Retreat.
While referring to the recent closure of over 714 churches in Kigali, Kagame said that such number is bigger than infrastructures that would benefit the population.
The Head of State said that having a number of churches bigger than that of water boreholes and industries which have good impact to population is disorder.
“What is the other productive thing that we have amounting 700 in Kigali? Is it industries? But, churches which you also decided to close down, this implies that it is disorder,” he said.
“Anyway, what do these 700 churches do? Do they offer water to population, are they shops, are they industries? what’s their role?” Kagame questioned.
He said that such disorder is brought by something missing in the culture, lifestyle and settings.
“This disorder in Africa is brought by people who wish the continent to remain in unfruitful practices and cause bad effects unable to control, when you try to avoid such effects; they call it people’s rights violation,” he said.
President Kagame said that the essential thing towards attaining positive changes is culture. He said that developed countries attained the development from being humble and hard work.
The monitoring of churches is being conducted by District leadership in the City of Kigali in partnership with Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) which regulates them.
The exercise of closing down shanty churches was effected after observing that they lack safety measures to worshipers, hygiene and operational documents.
In three-week exercise, a total of 714 churches were closed in the three city districts.
The technology helps farmers know the quantity of the fertilizers needed and crop pests that could affect production.
The technology is implemented by Charis Unmanned Aerial Solutions under the partnership of Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) and Regional Research Centre for Integrated Development (RCID) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation.
Technical head at Charis Unmanned Aerial Solutions, Teddy Segore said the technology helps farmers know the quantity of fertilizers to use during farming.
He said that sometimes farmers use excessive quantity of fertilizers and spend much money which they should have saved.
“This technology helps farmers identify the quantity of fertilizers to use, when it is lacking they add more but when they find it enough, they save their money. They will also be able to identify pests that could damage their crops and establish measures before things can get worse,” he explained.
The Director General of Innovation and Business Development at the Ministry of Information, Technology and Communication, Claudette Irere encouraged farmers to collaborate with the company so that they help them calculate the quantity of fertilizers needed their farms surfaces and identify requirements to practice profitable farming.
“This company will help farmers practice farming professionally, I urge farmers to join hands and collaborate with these technology providing companies so that they will not suffer many problems,” she said.
{{Optimism among farmers}}

Kagame attended the launch of the hotel hours after concluding the 15th National Leaders Retreat that was taking place in Rwanda Defence Forces’ Combat Training Center at Gabiro.
The Head of State thanked people who contributed in the construction of the hotel saying that it represents the progress they want.
He said that the hotel will play a role in the promotion of tourism and the growth of the country’s economy.
“I thank all those who played a role in the realisation of this hotel. It represents the progress that we want. This hotel will play a big role in the promotion of tourism and the growth of our economy,” he said.
He encouraged Nyagatare residents to own the hotel and use it.
“The people of this district should come and make use of the recreational facilities of this hotel,” he said.
He said the project should serve as a catalyst for similar or different investment projects elsewhere in the country.
“A hotel that started off as an idea and is today fully operational. Rwandans need to know that this facility is as good as any in the world and I encourage everyone to make use of it. I thank all those who played a role in the hotel’s realization,” he added.
