Rutsiro Residents urged to Always Mark Commemoration of Genocide

{{Residents of Ruhango sector in Rutsiro district have been urged to make it a duty to always mark the commemoration of Genocide committed against the tutsi in 1994.}}

The call was made on April 7 during the commemoration event held at the Genocide memorial site where over 3000 victims have been burried most of whom were from Musasa, Boneza, Mushonyi and Ruhango sectors.

Kageruka Emmanuel a survivor in his testimony said, during the genocide period he and other 60 people wandered over the hills in Kayove in Rutsiro district, they were later killed and he is the only survivor.

“It reaches a time when I regret why I live. But its different from today.”

Kageruka explained that the genocide government had ordered for the extermination of all Tutsis. “even then person you knew that would shelter you from killers would not risk”. This should never happen again.

Minister Kamanzi Stanislas expressed his support to survivors urging them to be hopeful and build their future.
