Man’s body found in Lake Kivu

The executive secretary of Gisenyi sector, Uwimana Vedaste has said that the body was taken to his family for burial.

“The body was found at the shore of Lake Kivu around 11am. We have learnt that he drowned in River Sebeya on 16th February 2021 when he tried to cross it along with other residents. Unfortunately, he slipped into the river. We have retrieved his body, embalmed it and taken home for burial,” he said.

The heavy rain that fell in Western Province saw River Sebeya flood destroying 172 houses and ravaged 3 hectares of arable land.
