Police Arrests Two Murder Suspects in Nyagatare

Police in Nyagatare District is holding two people for allegedly assaulting their colleague to death.

Emmanuel Nsabimana 41 and Fidele Ntakaziraho, 29, both of Matimba sector were arrested on suspicious of assaulting Protogene Nibishaka 28, who was found dead in the bush in Ntoma cell, also in Matimba Sector on Wednesday at about 11:00pm.

The duo is detained at Nyagatare Police station.

The cause of the tragic incident is suspected to be an argument the suspects had with the deceased in a bar where they were having a drink.

According to Police in Nyagatare, the suspects ambushed the deceased on his way home and assaulted him to death with sticks.

The Eastern Region Police Spokesperson, Supt. Benoit Nsengiyumva condemned the criminal act calling it “inhuman.”

“People should desist from things that lure them into such acts,” he said.

Most of the criminal acts recorded in the country, according to police, are caused by drug abuse like consumption of illicit brew and narcotics.

He further stressed that it’s always preferable to refer their grievances to judicial authorities instead of taking the matter in their own hands.
