UAE Ambassador to Rwanda holds Ramadhan Banquet for Muslim and Christian Clerics

The Eftar Dinner was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation Hon. Dr. Richard Sezibera, the Vice Mufti of the Rwanda Muslim Community Sheikh Saleh Nshimiyimana, His Grace Antoine Kambanda, Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kigali, Bishop Samuel Kayinamura Head of the Protestant Council of Rwanda, Members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Republic of Rwanda and media institutions.

“The Inter-Faith Eftar organized by the Embassy comes within the framework of the 2019 UAE Declaration of “Year of Tolerance” in order to consolidate the values of mutual understanding between peoples of different cultures and religions”. Ambassador Al-Qahtani said.

The Ambassador stressed that tolerance, coexistence and mutual respect are important values that the United Arab Emirates believes in and seeks to contribute to spreading in the region and the world.

The Ambassador pointed out that this invitation was aimed at bringing Islamic clerics and their brothers, representatives and church leaders, as well as government officials and diplomats, around an Eftar table to familiarize themselves with the customs of Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan. Contributing to the promotion of understanding and highlight the tolerance of Islam and its moderation, which the UAE is working to root.
