The remarks were made November 1 by the representative of Rwanda’s parliament at the opening of the fourth Kinshasa meeting of the Executive Committee of the Forum of Parliaments on the sidelines of International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR).
DRC, a member of the ICGLR is facing a rebellion of the March 23 Movement (M23) in the eastern part from April. The UN reports and NGO accuses Rwanda of backing the rebels.
During the meeting of the ICGLR, Jean Pierre Lola Kisanga, Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Forum said, “We want to establish a platform of peace for the benefit of our respective peoples of our countries so that these people can contribute to the peace and development of our country,” said Jean-Pierre Lola.
For two days, participants at the conference will prepare an agenda for the third plenary session scheduled from 18 to 20 December 2012.
Peace and security, good governance and democracy, humanitarian and social issues, economic development are the areas of intervention.
Of the eleven member country delegations expected, Tanzania, Congo – Brazzaville and Angola didnt attend.
