The rains also damaged different infrastructures including churches, classrooms, and gardens.
According to IGIHE reporter in the district, the most affected areas are in Nyabitimbo sector where five people got minor injuries and two among them were taken hospital.
A total of 13 classrooms and packaging plant were de-roofed and two cells offices damaged while 22 hectares of banana plantations were razed down and 12 electricity pylons fell down.
The Rusizi District officer in charge of disaster management, Martin Nziranziza said that the damage could even be more as the counting is still underway.
He said that the rains caused disconnection of electricity in different parts of the district.
Sectors that are most affected with disasters in the rain season are; Butare, Bweyeye, Gikundamvura, Nyakabuye, Muganza and Nkungu.
