Festive accidents claim eight lives, six injured

Rwanda National Police Traffic department has said that from Christmas to the New Year 2017 festivities, accidents claimed eight lives and six were injured, the police has announced during a press briefing.

CP George Rumanzi, the head of traffic police explained that the accidents were mostly caused by over-speeding and drunk-driving. Several arrests of traffic rules violators were made.

He however explained that Rwandans, on the whole enjoyed celebrations during festive season because of the good security at public gatherings including concerts among others.

The Criminal Investigation Department has also unveiled that they recorded minor crimes including circulation of Rwf 64,000 counterfeit money, money theft and small domestic animals robbery.
