Rwanda ready for African Union Summit

{The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo has said that Rwanda is ready to host the African Union summit to be held in Kigali next moth where a common passport on African continent will be launched.}

Talking to journalists on preparations of African Union summit on Friday, Mushikiwabo said; “We have been busy in the ministry of foreign affairs and the country in general. We are getting ready to receive many high-level delegates in July. Rwanda will be hosting the 27th African Union’s Summit here in Kigali where heads of states will hold insightful talks,” she said adding the summit will spearhead integration where the first African passport will be launched and give due emphasis on facilitating Africans’ free movements.

“The leader of African Union commission will come to Rwanda next month before the summit to hold talks with the President Paul Kagame. The African Union commission will be elected during the summit as the term for the current members is coming to an end.

Regarding readiness of accommodating the high-level delegates, Minister Mushikiwabo said; “We have all that it takes, including hotel accommodation for all the expected 3500 delegates. The Kigali Convention Center will also have been completed and all that is left is furnishing it with the necessary tools and soft infrastructures. I insist that Kigali Convention Center will open in the first week of July, 2016. Marriot Hotel will also open by July 5th, 2016,” she said.
