Easy win for Police as Handball League kicks off

{The national handball league kicked off this Saturday with the defending champions, Police thrashing Groupe Scolaire Rambura 51-19 to continue with its winning ways.}

Police found the net 20 times in the first half but found it easy to score more 31 goals in the second half. Rambura scored 8 and 11 goals in both sides respectively.

Haruna Bizimana scored 10 goals while Girbert Mutuyimana and Jean Baptiste Habimana scored 8 and 6 times respectively as the law enforcers starts campaign for their fourth successive league glory.

“This win was no surprise because we had enough time to train ahead of the league start which helped the players to know each other while on the pitch,” said AIP Antoine Ntabanganyimana, the Police coach.

Police started the new season with three new experienced signings; right-winger Jean Nepomuscene from St. Aloys Rwamagana, center-back Jean Luis Munezero from APR and former Nyakabanda goal-keeper Placide Mutangana, as it seeks to also improve its performance on the continental level.

Last year, Police enjoyed the most successful campaign, winning seven titles which include Labour Day, League, Carre d’As beach and East and Central Africa Handball Federation (ECAHF).
