Nyagatare-Rukomo road gets 11.2 billion Kuwait support

{Rwanda has signed a USD15 million deal with Kuwait Fund For Arab Economic Development (KFAED) to support the construction of Nyagatare-Rukomo road.
The project will cover construction of 73 kilometers of the 124.8 kilometers Nyagatare-Rukomo road with a width of 7 meters.}

The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Amb. Gatete Claver said that on completion, transport costs will have been reduced, enabling farmers have access to markets.

“The road will increase mobility, provide job opportunities and ease regional trade expected to eradicate poverty,” he said.

Hesham Al-Waqayan, the Deputy Director of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development said they will continue supporting Rwanda’s transport sector and are “committed to support the development of Rwanda as a landlocked country, through transport,”

The cooperation between Rwanda and KFAED started in 1975 and has played a vital role mainly in the construction of infrastructures, supporting education and health care services.
