Rusizi: Now four executive secretaries resign

{Another sector executive secretary from Rusizi district has resigned, making a total of four officials in the same category that have so far quit in a span of just two weeks, a spate attributed to officials’ mismanagement of public funds meant to improve citizens’ welfare. }

Claver Nsengimana, the former Executive Secretary of Butare sector in Rusizi district tendered in his resignation Monday 16th November, 2015 following accusations of mismanaging public funds.

The Mayor of Rusizi district, Frédéric Harerimana, has confirmed information about the resignation of Nsengimana. “We have received another resignation from Butare sector Executive Secretary in addition to three others who made leave of office last week,” said Harerimana.

Nsengimana had been the executive secretary of Gikundamvura sector before being transferred to Butare sector at the beginning of 2015.

Last week three sector executive secretaries of Gashonga, Nkungu and Nkombo resigned over what they described as personal reasons. Reliable sources have however intimated that their resignation is in connection with massive misallocation of funds meant to benefit residents through the Vision 2020 Umurenge Program (VUP) and Girinka.

The security council of Rusizi district has constituted a commission to investigate concerns and complaints raised by residents in the mismanagement of VUP and Gira Inka Program which, according to sources, have been characterized by injustice and immodesty.
