Local leaders commit to popularizing Irembo online services

{Local leaders in Bugesera district have committed to training residents in their respective locales on the use of ‘Irembo’ ICT solution (a one-stop portal for e-government services) to request for and access different public service documents online for different services, ultimately contributing to save social cost of citizen’s travelling and transportation to visit government offices hence boosting the level of service delivery in the country. }

Irembo Service was launched by Rwanda Online Platform agency in collaboration with Ministry of Youth and ICT (MyICT). The solution is used in the application of such documents as birth and marital certificates, provisional driving permits among others using internet or mobile telephone technology.

During the training session organized by RwandaOnline, local leaders expressed delightfulness over offered training on the use of ‘Irembo’ service saying it would facilitate residents to access public documents easily.

“This is an excellent service as it will ensure timeliness, efficiency and user friendly. We promise to elaborate benefits of the program and provide all other possible support,” promised Twagirayezu Sosthène, one of the trainees.

Leaders however expressed worries over bribery cases that might arise as a result of some dishonest people asking for money to facilitate access to documents.
The Rwanda Online director, Clement Uwajeneza, assured them of clear and direct services since there are no third parties involved.

“After the request and payment for the service, a confirmation message on requested services pops immediately and the institution informs the applicant when the document will be availed,” she assured.

Rwanda online is collaborating with various institutions including Bank of Kigali, Business Development Partner, Rwanda Telecenter to increase awareness on the use of this service. Other partners are; Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Ministry of Local Government (MINALOC), Rwanda National Police (RNP), National Public Prosecution Agency (NPPA) and the National Identification Agency (NIA).
