The UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (CAR) (MINUSCA) has repatriated 20 peacekeepers to their country.
UN Spokesman Stephane DuJarric told reporters on Thursday in New York.
He said that the development followed the inquiry concerning the incidents on June 10, in which four individuals arrested during a security operation were apparently the victims of excessive force.
He added that the force resulted in the deaths of two of them and the while the a third man was hospitalised.
In a related development, he said, the UN and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region had reaffirmed its willingness to work closely with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to him, the conference will also do so for and Rwanda, to support the repatriation of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) combatants.
DuJarric said the Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region, Mr Said Djinnit, made the call to encourage repatriation while visiting Kisangani on Wednesday.
He said that the Deputy Executive Secretary of the International Conference of the region and the Deputy Head of the UN Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO) witnessed the occasion.
He added that the envoys visited the Bauma transit camp being managed by the government and sheltered 790 people, including former FDLR combatants.
He said that he commended the actions taken by the DRC with the support of MONUSCO to neutralise armed groups in the east of the country.
