Police in Nyamirambo, a Kigali suburb, has arrested a man known as Simon Nsanzimana for allegedly defiling his 9-year-old stepdaughter.
Neighbours spotted the girl struggling to walk and asked her what had happened. She told them her stepfather had defiled her.
The neighbours immediately informed local authorities who later called the Police. He is held at Nyamirambo Police Station pending further investigation. Nsanzimana denies the charges.
Defilement is punishable with life imprisonment and a fine of up to Frw500,000.
