{The Immigration department has deported 129 of the 130 illegal immigrants who were arrested at the Swedish Pentecostal Church of Zambia of Kamwala South in Lusaka.}
The illegal immigrants were apprehended on Wednesday April 1, this year.
Immigration public relations officer Namati Nshinka said in a statement yesterday that the illegal immigrants were deported from the country on Friday.
Mr Nshinka said the group comprised 109 Burundese, 13 Tanzanians, 6 Congolese and one Rwandese.
“They were scheduled to appear in court for various immigration offences but the Department decided to remove them from the country in order to de-congest the prisons where they had been detained,” he said.
