Youth to Embrace Self-Reliance Culture

Kigali City Mayor Fidele Ndayisaba has called upon youth to embrace self-reliance culture by focusing on innovations as well as being the engine of sustainable development.

Ndayisaba was today officially opening the Youth Connekt event in Kigali.

The National Youth Connekt Convention was held under the theme:” Self-reliance through innovations”.

“Youth will continue to develop Rwanda in all aspects” The Mayor said that by joining hands, youth will be able to address challenges hindering their development.

Ndayisaba noted that no one loves Rwanda than Rwandans themselves so that they must work hard to achieve socio-economic autonomy.

He reiterated that youth must feel able to achieve everything.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and ICT, Rosemary Mbabazi highlighted youth must present Core Values putting them in one word “ARISE” meaning A: Accountability, R:Reliable; Result Oriented, I:Innovation; Integrity S:Sense of Urgency and E representing Excellence.

“In what you do, you have to be excellent; don’t let the silly little dramas of each day get you down. For you are here to do great things” Mbabazi urged.

Throughout Discussions, Youth have said they are committed to the development of the country pledging more support to their innovations.

“Let’s invest more to create business companies as youth to go forward, limited by shares companies are recommendable” said one of Youth Agri Business Company.

Over 3,000 youth from across the country and the Diaspora attended the first ever National Youth Connekt Convention.

The key recommendations from the youth gathering that takes place today dubbed National Youth ‘Connekt’ Convention are expected to be tabled before the National Dialogue which will get underway tomorrow.
