{President Paul Kagame has reminded African heads of states to keep in mind the principle upon which African Union is rooted requesting countries to join efforts with the aim of bringing solutions to Africa’s problems.}
He made the remarks yesterday in the session of heads of states in Kigali to attend the 27th African Union summit.
Kagame said the meet is a good opportunity to contemplate the meaning of unity upon which Africa is built.
The session was preceded by the anthem of African Union (Let Us All Unite and Celebrate Together) sang by students from Nyundo Arts School from Rubavu district, Western Province of Rwanda.
President Kagame said that unity will enable Africa to meet its goals noting that people meeting to reflect on what unites them and make them stronger are likely to find peaceful solutions to development challenges.
“The World continues to be divided; yet Africa can achieve a lot by working in unity. The unity of our continent especially in integration should not have any exceptions since everyone’s involvement is needed to find solutions,” he said.
He explained that 22 years ago Rwanda was about to vanish because of divisionism but unity has brought the country thus far and advised the symbol of brotherhood uniting Africa should not be hampered by lines drawn on maps in the past century.
