Vatican should apologize for genocide complicity-President Kagame

President Kagame has said that he doesn’t understand why Pope Francis doesn’t apologize for complicity of his church members in the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi as he apologized on behalf of Christians who committed crimes in other countries.

The president noted that it’s surprising for the Pope to apologize on behalf of church members involved in different crimes elsewhere in the world but the same seem to be impossible for Rwanda. “Why doesn’t he do it here?” wondered Kagame as he attended the second day 14th National Dialogue at Kigali Convention Center.

“The apologies were delivered in America, Ireland, and Australia by the Pope, leader of Catholic Church. Why is doing so in Rwanda would seem so difficult? Why doesn’t he do it as he apologizes in other parts of the world where crimes are lighter compared to what happened here?” said Kagame.
