{{The Rwanda mission in Kampala has announced intentions to have over 16 Rwandan students extradited to face the law back home.}}
The Rwandan High Commissioner to Uganda, Maj Gen Frank Mugambagye said, the students left Rwanda illegally after they were found to have fraudulently registered for last year’s national Advanced level examinations.
He added that the students were part of the 552 whose studies were on-going but they chose to register for the final exams before progressing to and completing Senior Six, an act considered as examination fraud.
According to the Rwandan examinations rules and regulations, these students were not eligible to register as full-time school candidates because they were not full-time students.
“We maintain that those disgruntled fellows must go back home. There is no ground for granting them asylum here. Many people seeking asylum tell a lot of lies and this particular group should be ignored .We cannot allow people to defraud systems to achieve their own goals,” he said.
He maintained that the students would not be persecuted, like it has been alleged if they accept to return home. “I am very sure that they will be helped like their colleagues in Rwanda who faced a similar fate if they go back home,” he added
