Uganda, Rwanda rise as Kenya, Tanzania fall in latest FIFA rankings

{Uganda has risen two places from 81st to 79th in the world according to the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday September 18.

The rise is attributed to The Cranes heroics in the 2015 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers where they top group E with four points following a 1-1 away draw in Ghana and 2-0 victory at home to Guinea.

Ghana and Guinea; Uganda’s opponents in group E are 33rd and 48th respectively with Togo falling 38 places to a distant 125th in the world.

Uganda remains the highest ranked nation in the CECAFA region followed by Rwanda (93), Kenya (111), Tanzania (115), Burundi (130), Ethiopia (132), Sudan (133), South Sudan (185), Eritrea (202), Somalia (204) and Djibouti (205) in that respective order.

World champions Germany maintain top spot with Argentina closely following in second whilst Netherlands drop from third to fourth with Colombia taking third while Belgium completes the top five.

Algeria is the best ranked Africa Nations in number 20.

Next release will be done on October 23 after Cranes back to back games against Togo.
