A two year-old child, Niyibizi Bensoni on Saturday April 16th 2016 drowned in Rubyiro River, Buhanga village ,Pera cell of Bugarama sector Rusizi as his mother, Uwimana Jeannette, was washing clothes besides the river in the morning hours.
The executive secretary of Bugarama sector, Rukazambuga Gilbert said that the body of the child has not yet been recovered but the searching is on-going.
He explained that they usually prohibit residents from washing besides the river but ignore the advice saying other sources of water are expensive and distant.
Recently on February 23rd 2016, two men from Gikundwamvura sector drowned in the same river where one of them died.
