Two teachers arrested over suspected exam malpractices

The duo identified as Michel Nsabyimpuhwe and Alex Habyarimana was arrested red-handed yesterday, October 13 trying to help pupils cheat at GS Kirambo, a 12 years’ basic education school which also serves as a site for national primary leaving exams located in Kirambo Cell, Gitesi Sector of Karongi District.

Nsabyimpuhwe is a teacher at Murambi Primary School whereas Habyarimana teaches at Muvungu Primary School.

After their arrest, they were handed to Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) which has started investigations as Modeste Mbabazi, the Bureau Spokesperson confirmed it to IGIHE.
Mbabazi said that the investigations are looking for other teachers who might have got involved in the plot to help pupils cheat.

National primary leaving examinations for the academic year 2018this year have attracted a total 255,173 primary school pupils of who 138,831 are girls.

A total of 138,831 girls and 116,342 boys are sitting for the 2018 primary leaving exams, an increase of 7.6 percent compared to last year
