Two Chinese Nationals Arrested with Ivory at Kigali Airport

Suspects have been identified as Yang Xiaojuna and Wel Guiwang were intercepted as they tried to through the checkpoint at about 2:45PM.

The two suspects are currently being detained at Kicukiro Police station pending further investigations.

Superintendent Modeste Mbabazi, Police Spokesperson for Central said the Ivory was found cut into 32 small pieces and concealed in a tin container and kept in their baggage.

The Ivory was detected after the suspects baggage went through a scanner at the check point.

The two Chinese nationals have been working at CImerwa Cement Factory in Bugarama in western province.

According to Police, the suspects tried to bribe Police with U$85 and 100Chinese Yuan to secure their gate-pass but the officer at the check-point refused and immediately detained them.
