{{Police in Kamonyi District has detained four people in connection with the murder of two businessmen.}}
The deceased have been identified as Major(rtd)John Sengati and Emmanuel Hitabatuma.
Maj.(rtd) Sengati was allegedly waylaid on his way driving back to Kigali and shot in the head and chest killing him instantly. The murder occurred at about 7PM of May 11 in the village of Gishyeshye, Rukoma sector.
Police told IGIHE that the death of Maj.(Rtd) Sengati resulted from a business related dispute. He was the director of John Sengati Limited –a mining company dealing in coltan minerals located at Rukoma sector in kamonyi district.
ACP Theos Badege the Police spokesperson told IGIHE that Maj.(rtd) Sengati’s murder resulted from internal wrangles in the mining company, “he was shot in the head and chest while in his car driving back to Kigali.”
Another murder victim Hitabatuma was hit to death on May 10, by his employees after a disagreement.
Police revealed that Hitabatuma was stoned to death by the employees at a Sand excavation site in Runda sector in kamonyi district. “two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Hitabatuma.”
