{Today Tigo Rwanda hosted for the second edition of its 4G Phone Festival. The event to showcase 4G LTE Internet is held at the Tigo Rwanda Service Center in Remera from 9:00 AM. The 2 days event not only invited customers to experience 4G LTE Internet but also gave them the opportunity to purchase 4G LTE enabled smartphones at reduced prices as well as 4G data packs.}
Explaining why the event was held, Tigo Rwanda Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tongai Maramba said: “There isenormous potential to change lives through digital. People are increasingly seeing the Internet as one of the most important enablers in their lives for self-development, staying in touch, doing business, making life simpler and even entertainment. Right now nothing can serve better that purpose than the Tigo 4G LTE Internet.”
Tigo’s 4G LTE provides the fastest network available with download speeds four to five times faster than normal 3G networks. Putting the numbers into perspective, downloading a 10-minute video clip on a 3G connection can take you 10 minutes. Download the same clip on a 4G connection and it would take around 35 seconds. And media streaming apps, like BBC iPlayer, will work much more instantly.
Customers enjoyed discounted Samsung, Techno and Konka smartphones and 4G data plans.
Deogene Kamali, a logistics expert in the customs, expressed “I missed out on the first 4G phone Festival, This time round I happened to be in the country. 4G LTE is really the way to go. The world is advancing and we need to cope up. It’s great that Tigo is helping us to get smartphones at really affordable prices. “
Tigo Sales Manager for Kigali North Territory , Kanyankore Pacifique expressed: “Just over last year Internet Penetration in Rwanda increased by 5.5% to 33.5%. Our priority as Tigo now is to capitalize on this momentum and accelerate growth so that we can continue to play our part in transforming the country through digital inclusion.”
Tigo Rwanda was the first telecom to launch 4G internet for mobile phones last September. By dialling *310# Tigo customers can purchase affordable daily and weekly 4G packs.
