{{The Senior Command and Staff Course, third intake, was officially launched July 21, by the Commandant of RDF Command and Staff College (RDFCSC), Brig Gen Charles Karamba, on behalf of the RDF Chief of Defence Staff. }}
In his remarks, Brig Gen Charles Karamba urged the Student Officers to use the course as a tool that will guide them while performing their future responsibilities of leaders within their respective Defence forces.
“To you student officers, you will from today embark on one year journey to acquire requisite attitude, skills and knowledge that will help you in leading your respective defence and security forces at the operational level”, said Brig Gen Charles Karamba.
He further noted that the Students will undergo simultaneously two programs including a military package and an academic one (in partnership with the University of Rwanda), to exit with a Passed Staff College (PSC) and a Master’s degree in Security Studies, respectively.
For the first time, The Republic of South Sudan has sent two Senior Officers to attend the SCSC.
The two south Sudanese Officers are optimistic that the training will contribute significantly in addressing security challenges at home and enhance the professionalisation of their Army.
“This knowledge is very benefiting to South Sudan as a new nation; we will be upgraded by African countries saying that we are like them.
This training will definitely help us. If we don’t bring all of us to Rwanda and to other African countries, there is no improvement in the Army”, said Lt Col Denge Manyiel Chindut.
The SCSC course takes one year, and the one opened today will be attended by 48 Senior Student Officers from the East Africa Community and the Republic of South Sudan.
The students will be guided by an able team of Directing and Support Staff, as well as eminent professors and lecturers from various universities.
