Local reports indicate that bandits are increasing in Gitega sector where they terrorize traders especially in Kinyange.
Residents of the area say the bandits steal from them during night hours.
One of the shopkeepers in the area told IGIHE, “On the night of December 29, 2012, thieves broke the lock on my shop. By chance, I heard the noise and I got up and shouted. The law enforcement officers responded immediately and bandits fled.”
The head of Ubwiza Village confirmed the presence of thugs in the area.
He told the IGIHE that strategies have been taken to prevent such crimes with the strengthening of night patrols.
