Mwanza — {THE national soccer team, Taifa Stars, second-string side has arrived in Mwanza ready to take on Rwanda, in an international friendly match at the CCM Kirumba Stadium on Wednesday.}
Stars head coach, Mart Nooij, said on Monday morning that shortly after arriving here on Sunday the players were given hours to recuperate and resumed training on Monday.
He also said all 36 players in the squad were due to undergo medical check up on Monday to test their fitness. He said the team is undergoing training sessions twice at the CCM Kirumba Stadium ready to take on their Rwandese counterparts.
“We will train in the morning and evening everyday to keep fit for this crucial friendly encounter,” the Dutch said. Nooij disclosed that the match is crucial to the players and those who will perform well in the game will be promoted to the senior team.
Stars versus Rwanda match is part of the coach’s programme of preparing the team for the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers which kick off in May. The finals will be held in Rwanda.
Nooij named a contingent of 36 players last week to form the squad. Simba Sports Club upcoming goalkeeper Peter Manyika Jnr and Young Africans evergreen striker Simon Msuva are among players who have been selected in the team.
They are joined by Aishi Manula, Benedict Tinoko, Miraji Adam, Andrew Vincent, Michael Gadiel, Emmanuel Semwanda, Joram Mgeveke, Edward Charles, Adam Salamba, Aboubakar Mohammed and Hassan Dilunga.
Others are Hussein Malombe, Shiza Ramadhani, Omari Nyenje, Kelvin Friday, Alfred Masumbakenda, Salim Mbonde, Atupele Green, Rashid Mandawa, Salum Telela, Hassan Banda, Mohammed Hussein, Said Ndemla and Said Makapu.
The Rwanda squad consists of Marcel Nzarora, Olivier Kwizera, Sotel Kayomba, Ismail Nshutiyamagala, Emery Bayisenge and Michel Rushengoga, according to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF). Others are Fitina Ombolenga, Janvier Mutijima, Haruna Niyonzima, Jean Baptista, Mugiraneza Savio, Nshuti Dominique, Patrick Sibomano, Jean Claude, Zagabe Andrew, Butera Ernest, Sugira Danny, Usengimana Betramed Iladukunda and Bienvenue Mugenzi.
Entrance fees for the match are 20,000/- for VIP seats, 10,000/- for normal seats and 3,000/- for the terraces. Meanwhile, Mwanza Regional Football Associating (MRFA) Chairman Jackson Songora has said that the region is pleased to host the national team for a friendly against Rwanda.
He called on Mwanza resident and neighboring regions to turn out in their big numbers to witness the match and support the national team.
He said the venue is in good condition and the pitch, toilets and dressing rooms are well worked on ready to host the match. He also assured fans of tight security for them to come and enjoy
