Suspected terrorist cell members arrested by Rwanda Police

{Police has confirmed to have arrested six people suspected of involvement in mobilizing others to join the ISIS terrorist group in the Middle East. }

The arrested, all muslims including two sheikhs, had organized a trip from Kigali to Huye on 10th January to hold a public talk in Huye Campus, University of Rwanda but they, on the same day, disappeared with their phones switched off.

At the time of their disappearance, the spokesperson of Rwanda National Police, ACP Twahirwa Célestin told IGIHE that their families were free to report cases of missing relatives to the authorities. Now police confirm they are in police custody.

The arrested include; Sheikh Ndahimana Ahmed and Ndabishoboye Ally, Maboyi Jamali, Hajji Mushumba Abdoul Karim and two others including their driver and a young man studying at Islamic school of Rwampara.

In a press briefing held on Saturday 30th January, 2016, the head of Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Theos Badege said that the six are among arrested individuals suspected to mobilize Rwandans to join ISIS.

“The arrested are divided in two categories; those who will be handed to the prosecution and others who will be released soon” he said.

ACP Badege says that after shooting dead a suspect connected to the same crime, Mohammed Mugemangango, investigations established that he had collaborators.
