{{Police in Rulindo district has detained a man identified as Ntiziryayo 29, for allegedly hacking to death Fils Nsengiyumva with a machete on February 23 in Kigarama cell.}}
Ntiziryayo is said to have been under the influence of alcohol when he killed Nsengiyumva.
The suspect is said to have taken excessive amounts of illicit brew commonly known as Nyirantare according to their neighbor Leopold Mutaganda.
It is reported that after failing to know the whereabouts of his wife, Nsengiyumva went to the nearest bar and smashed Ntiziryayo with an empty bottle on his header.
The latter immediately went home, got a panga and ambushed the victim as he was returning back.
He damaged his head and efforts of saving his life at Rutongo hospital were futile as he passed on due to excessive bleeding.
The suspect is detained at Murambi Police station.
The Rulindo District Police Commander Supt Johnson Ntaganda vehemently warned Rulindo residents to abstain from selling and consuming illicit brew (Nyirantare) which has been a leading cause of many crimes ranging from domestic violence to assault.
Ntaganda in conjunction with the local authorities who had participated in the end of month community works exercise (Umuganda) gave an ultimatum to traders of these illicit brews to cease from doing the business, warning them that further tough actions and sanctions will follow on both traders and clients of this deadly illicit brew.
If convicted the suspect Ntezirayayo will be liable to a life imprisonment according to article 140 of the Rwandan penal code.
