Survey of Rwanda Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies

{{The Rwanda Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey is an initiative of KPMG and The Nation Media Group (NMG) through its local publication Rwanda Today. }}

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) is a key member of the team and a major sponsor.

Together the three institutions hosted the inaugural Rwanda Top 100 Survey and Gala dinner in November 2012, which by many standards was a great success.

The purpose of the Top 100 Survey is to identify and recognize Rwanda’s fastest growing medium-sized companies in order to showcase business excellence and highlight the country’s most successful entrepreneurship stories.

By giving recognition to these companies, we are investing in the multinationals of tomorrow and meeting one of the national goals of Rwanda which is to move from poverty reduction to wealth creation.

The Awards and Certificates recognized in ranked order the Top 100 fastest growing Mid-sized companies in Rwanda as well as special awards to industry champions in IT, Agribusiness, Hospitality, Construction and Health.

Awards were also given to the Female Entrepreneur of the Year and the Young Entrepreneur of the Year. The overall winner of the Top 100 was presented with the Pinnacle Award.

The presentation of Awards and Certificates forms only one part of the Top 100 process.

Winners become members of the Rwanda Top 100 Club in the year in which they have won. This club membership entitles them to Forums and various club events for the entire year.

Forums are held every quarter following the Gala Dinner, and the companies are invited to participate. The Forums serve several purposes;

1. To bring together the winners as part of networking amongst themselves.

2. To create opportunities to engage and discuss issues that affect medium sized companies.

3. Whenever possible , to meet with successful CEOs of big companies, in order to listen and get insights into how to grow their businesses.

4. To learn more about business and get training on topics such as Tax Planning, Cash Management, Marketing, Strategic Planning, Raising Capital, Leveraging Technology, Human Resources Management etc.

The Forum for the Club members on 19 March 2013 is primarily to have the first real interaction with members, as well as have a walkthrough of the evaluation and analysis process that was used to pick the winners.

This walkthrough also highlights key and important aspects of the survey that are useful in understanding the positioning of the Medium sized companies in Rwanda.
