{{Police in Ngoma District has arrested two suspects- one student and a school guard in connection with theft of two computers and two flat screens from ETO Kibungo school.}}
It is reported that Joseph Nsengiyumva, 30 years broke the window glass and entered the school computer laboratory where he stole the items under the protection of the school guard Protais Ndagijimana.
The stolen items were then transferred and kept in a hostel of another student Jean Paul Ndagijimana as they looked for potential buyers.
However, Jean Paul Ndagijimana who had kept the items pretended to buy the items and paid a down payment of 50,000 francs out of the initially agreed 100,000 francs before reporting to the matter to school administrators, a feat which led to the arrest of the duo.
The stolen items were recovered and handed back to the school authorities as Nsengiyumva and Protais Ndagijimana were arrested and are currently held at Kibungo Police station.
The Central Region Police Spokesperson Supt. Benoit Nsengiyumva said, “We will not halt to bring to justice all criminals who involve themselves in such criminal acts. Police has continuously worked hand in hand with the community to make sure there is protection of the people and their property, “
“I am urging the public to always report anything abnormal in their communities so as to help Police intervene on time,” added Benoit.
If convicted, the pair will be charged under article 300 of the penal code which states that any person who commits theft without violence or threat shall be liable to term of imprisonment of six months to two years and a fine of two to five times the value of the stolen property or one of these penalties.
