Stabilisation course participants at RPA hail Rwandans’ reconciliation efforts

Participants to the ongoing course on Stabilisation and Civil Military Cooperation at Rwanda Peace Academy in Musanze on 14 May 2015 visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. The aim of the visit was to get a firsthand information on the Genocide against the Tutsi.

After paying respect to the victims of the 1994 Genocide, the officers made a guided tour of different sections of the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. During the tour the vistors were explained the History of the genocide, its consequences and Rwandans reconciliation efforts to rebuild the Country.

After the visit all course participants concurred on the fact what they had just seen was a live testimony of the terrible events Rwandans went through 22 years ago. But they also hailed the courage Rwandans have demonstrated by embarking on the reconciliation path to rebuild their broken society, which has translated into the today’s remarkable progress of the country in all sectors.

The Regional training on Stabilisation and Civil-Military Cooperation in peacekeeping operations at Rwanda Peace Academy has brought together 25 military, police and civilian personnel from 5 Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) member states. Represented EASF Partner States are the Republics of Comoros, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan and Uganda.
