{Six suspected drug dealers were arrested and a total of 61 cartons of banned gins seized by Police in operations conducted in the Eastern Province districts of Ngoma and Nyagatare.}
The operations were largely successful when in one swoop; Revenue Protection Department (RPD) intercepted a Mitsubishi RAC 170J last week in Nyagatare, which was carrying 53 cartons of the banned gin.
Furthermore in Ngoma District, Police in conjunction with other security forces and partners conducted a targeted operation and halted a suspect who was riding a motorcycle with half 0.5 kilogram of cannabis.
The suspects are detained at Kibungo police station and Nyagatare Police Station respectively as investigations continue.
Their arrest comes after a stern police warning to motorists against transporting unknown products.
The Police spokesman for the Eastern Province, IP Emmanuel Kayigi, cautioned citizens against consumption of banned brews and illicit drugs, reminding them of the adverse health effects they may cause them.
