Serve public interest—Kagame to local leaders

{President Paul Kagame has told leaders that there is no proper explanation for failure to meet targets in performance contracts and castigated leaders satisfying own interests at the expense of public interest.}

He has said this today as he talked to various leaders after signing performance contracts of 2016/2017. President Kagame said that there is a serious problem in areas where leaders don’t work together.

The president observed that there is repeated bad performance where leaders do not cooperate either within or among institutions. “I hear from areas where the situation is not good that leaders work for self interest and disregard public interest,” he said.

He said that things would be improved if leaders put themselves in shoes of citizens.
