Government has directed that monthly salaries of state employees be reduced by ¼ if they are found to have mismanaged public funds.
The directive also guaranteed by law will affect 290 state employees who have mismanaged public funds.
This is considered as a deterent measure against negligence in the management of public finances.
The announced was made by Rwanda’s Prime Minister during a meeting held last week where he raised the issue of continuous mismanagement of public assets.
“In the context of the fight against impunity, 290 state employees who have mismanaged public affairs and those who have embezzled public funds saw their monthly salaries chopped by ¼ and that they must refund any amount that they have mismanaged, “said Habumuremyi.
