{From March 24-25 -2015, Rwanda (MIDIMAR) will host a tripartite meeting with the Government of Zambia and UNHCR. }
The main Objective of this Tripartite Meeting is to evaluate the progress implementation of the Cessation Clause for Rwandan refugees still living in Zambia and setting up practical modalities to spearhead the process.
The cessation Clause came into effect on June 30, 2013 and affected more than 4,000 Rwandan refugees in Zambia. Since then, several meetings between Zambia and Rwanda have taken place in order to set up modalities on the implementation of durable solutions provided by the Cessation Clause declaration including: Voluntary repatriation, local integration and exemption procedures.
This Tripartite Meeting is a follow up to the bilateral Meeting held in Lusaka on 3-4 July 2013 where the two governments adopted several recommendations meant to facilitate repatriation of Rwandan refugees and local integration for those who wish to stay in Zambia.
On November 18, 2013 in Lusaka, Rwanda also launched the issuance of Rwandan passports to Rwandan refugees affected by Cessation Clause in order to facilitate their local integration.
