Rwanda to Lift 3million Out of Poverty in 5years

{{Rwanda has reduced poverty from 12% in the past five years and more than a million people have escaped poverty.}}

According to Dr. Agnes Kalibata the Minister of Agriculture, “There is hope that in five years 3 million people will be out of poverty. This should be a reality and not a song or a slogan.

She made the remarks during the celebration of World Food Day, held at Bishenyi swamp in Kamonyi District.

Celebrations were held under the themed ‘Agricultural Cooperatives: key to feeding the world.’

This theme intended to highlight specific ways in which agricultural cooperatives and producer organizations can help in ensuring food security, create jobs and lift people out of poverty.

Dr. Kalibata said agriculture in Rwanda has been reinforced by land consolidation, regionalization of crops, and the proper treatment of crops and proper crop products storage.
