{Rwanda anticipates the launch of a new fund to support 100 technology related Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the country in 2016. }
In an interview with a French news medium ,Le Monde, the Minister of Youth and ICT ,Jean Philbert Nsengimana declared that the anticipated fund will possess 100 million USD that will support 100 selected technology related SMEs.
As Minister Philbert explained, the selection list will focus on local SMEs operating in Rwanda to receive support even though out border projects are not marginalized.
Minister Nsengimana said that the new fund will bring opportunity to improve local technology related projects having no support.
Among 100 million USD support, the government of Rwanda will provide 30% while 70% will be covered by private investors and other shareholders of the fund. Selected projects will start receiving the support in 2016 accompanied by an auditing team.
In 2012 K-Lab was the sole institution to open its doors to young, dynamic innovators and entrepreneurs to utilize its ICT infrastructures to develop solutions. On top of that, Minister Nsengimana asserts that he is glad for anticipated ICT innovations development.
Rwanda is among fast developing countries in technology on African continent using ICT to make most of country’s economic leading services affordable.
