Rwanda has participated in three international games of East African parliaments and expected to host the next tournament from 4th to 10th December, 2015 during which more than 300 participants including MPs from five countries of EAC and MPs of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) will attend.
During a press briefing, president of the senate, Bernard Makuza has revealed that such organized tournaments and games are meant to reflect an image of oneness, with people from member states living as a community.
“Other than the general getting together and celebrating the Community, participants will know much more about Rwanda. Even though there will be no cash payment during the competition, best performing teams will be awarded medals,” he assured.
The competition will involve various games of foot ball, volley ball, tag of war, netball among others. Rwanda has been participating only in football match.
The Rwandan parliament has never won any cup in this competition except the award of fair play the parliament received.
The senate president Bernard Makuza has revealed that with discipline, Rwanda will win cups and medals.
“Rwanda needs cups, we will keep fair play and discipline as we have demonstrated in the past and strive to obtain cups and medals.”
This has been emphasized by one of parliamentary players, Gatabazi JMV, who has requested Rwandans to attend the games in big numbers for cheering the teams and interact with other East Africans.
Football competitions will start on 5th December at Nyamirambo stadium while athletics will have preceded on 4th December at Amahoro stadium.
