{Rwanda will face Tanzania in a friendly match on December 9 in Dar es Salaam as they celebrate their 53rd Independence Day anniversary. }
Amavubi head coach Stephen Constantine will name a provincial squad on Tuesday that will start training on Wednesday in preparation for the encounter.
The English tactician revealed: “This is an opportunity for us to field the U-23 side that will play the Olympic qualifiers in March next year.”
Rwanda will face Somalia in the first round of qualification and victory will secure a face off against Uganda and the winner of that tie will then take on Egypt.
The victor will qualify for the 2015 All Africa Games scheduled for September 4-19 in Congo Brazzaville with the top three making the mark for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
“Tanzania has a good side and they will provide a test for us and we are looking forward to that,” mentioned Constantine who recently launched an outcry for more national team engagements to prepare the Amavubi for the 2016 African Nations Cup (CHAN) that will be hosted in Rwanda.
Constantine emphasised the importance of this game in giving exposure to the young players who have almost none on the international scene.
He said: “When I came here in May I had one striker in Dady Birori but now I have four or five who are young so they have to play games to gain experience. That is why this game is very important.”
Last month, Rwanda held Morocco to a goalless draw in Marrakesh in an international friendly, their first game in three months after being disqualified from the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
