Rwanda & Tanzania in Talks to Build Genocide Memorial Site

{{Tanzania and Rwanda are in final phase of talks to have a Genocide memorial site constructed in Ngara District of Tanzania.}}

The revealation was made by executive secretary of the National Commission for the Fight against Genocide, Jean De Dieu Mucyo saying the memorial site will accomodate the remains of victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi that were discovered in Tanzania.

There are remains of 917 Genocide victims buried in Ngara District of Tanzania.

Mucyo was quoted by a local daily saying, “The talks between Rwanda and Tanzania are about the ownership of the land where the memorial site will be located.”

He added that construction will commence after the two countries have agreed.

Martin Muhoza, the in-charge of conservation and exhibition at

CNLG officials including Martin Muhoza in-charge of conservation and exhibition have toured the proposed site and submitted a report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This development concludes a tip off from someone in 2009 who noted to CNLG that some remains of genocide victims had been burried in Tanzania.
